Elementary Auxiliary Program

The Elementary Auxiliary Program, which we call Clubhouse, is designed to be an extension of the school day, providing children the opportunity to relax, explore, and foster friendships outside of their regular classroom. A typical day includes snack time/homework time, outside time, free choice, and a variety of enrichment activities that meet the interests of the students.

ELEMENTARY ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES

Students enrolled in in the Elementary Auxiliary Program must sign up for the enrichment activities at the time of registration. Below is a list and description of the enrichment activities offered each trimester.

Trimester 1: September 5, 2024 - November 22, 2024

Early Morning Drop Off Cost
Trimester 1: 11 Weeks
7:30 a.m.  – 8:30 a.m.

Early Morning Drop Off is available for all students beginning at 7:30 a.m. each morning. Younger students have the opportunity to play with friends who have also arrived early. The fees are below and sign up and payment is via your online Clubhouse account.

Monday
Chess Wizards (Grades 1 and 2)

Learn lessons and traditional game play with Chess Wizards. They will incorporate variations of chess games that build teamwork and foster a genuine enjoyment of the game.

STEM Fun! (Grades 3 and 4)

Join us for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) activities that are designed to encourage curiosity and creativity. Students will have the opportunity to work together to design and build structures of various styles, create science experiments to better understand the world around them, learn how Math principles guide both painters and architects, and experiment with simple coding projects. 

Tuesday
Cooking Club (Grades 3 and 4)

WStudents will prepare foods using traditional and updated versions of simple, tasty recipes geared to teach them the basics of cooking. They will use child friendly tools of the trade and learn basic rules of food safety. Participants will work in teams on some recipes and have other opportunities to create according to their personal taste. All recipes will be compiled into a cookbook.

Art Around Us

Get creative with all things art! Is your child the next Picasso, Keith Haring, or Eric Carle? Each week, students will hear stories about various artists and have an opportunity to create their own artwork through painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, and collage.

Thursday
Parkour

Jump into the dynamic world of parkour with Parkour Generations Boston! This class is designed to teach students the techniques and ideas of parkour training in a safe and progressive setting, while building their physical strength and developing self-confidence. Students will learn to see the world through “parkour vision,” where the world becomes your playground and learn to embrace obstacles as an opportunity for fun and exploration.

Friday Fun!

Join us for a longer afternoon of fun and engaging programming planned by our auxiliary team. The afternoon will consist of more in depth art activities, team building games, and special projects.

Game Day! (Grades 1 and 2)
Do you like to play board games, card games, or even invent your own games? Spend the afternoon with us as we explore games from around the world, create our own games, and maybe even discover a new favorite game.

Chain Reaction (Grades 3 and 4)

Let’s learn about Rube Goldberg machines! In this hands-on program, campers build a variety of complex contraptions to complete a simple task—such as ringing a bell—while learning the basic physics concepts of work, gravity, force and momentum. Using simple machines like levers, wedges, wheels, axles, pulleys and inclined planes, campers learn to understand mechanical concepts in a fun way, while using their imagination!

Wednesday
Crazy 8’s Math
Building off the book series, Bedtime Math by Laura Overdeck, this program will have students playing all kinds of mischief making math games. From Beach Ball Party to Glow-in-the-Dark City, math concepts are presented  in a playful and fun way. Come join us for the inaugural season of the LES Crazy 8’s Math Club.

 

Thursday
Mindful Squirrel (Grades 1 and 2)
Through the Mindful Squirrel program, students will learn about mindfulness through stories, movement, nature, art and play. We will learn about our mindful anchors, breath, body, and sounds, to become more aware of ourselves. Students will be given activities to practice at home with their families.

Mom Yung Doe: Traditional Martial Arts (Grades 3 and 4)
This class, offered through the School of  Oom Yung Doe, will focus on both physical and mental growth. Students will have the opportunity to improve strength, flexibility, and coordination as well as focus, discipline, and confidence. All levels welcome.
