Anne Norris’ NAIS Blog

A proud moment for our community!

Our Middle School Director, Anne Norris, was recently published by the National Association of Independent Schools in Independent Ideas. Her article, “The Problem When Learning Is Made Too Easy,” explores a powerful concept at the heart of meaningful education: productive struggle.

In the piece, Anne reflects on an important truth. When students are given the space to wrestle with challenging ideas, revise their thinking, and persist through uncertainty, they build more than knowledge. They build resilience, confidence, and the belief that they can figure things out.

This philosophy is something we strive to bring to life in our classrooms at Lesley Ellis every day: supporting students while also encouraging them to take on meaningful challenges that help them grow.

Please join us in congratulating Anne on this wonderful recognition!

Admission Decision Time!

Some families may still be exploring the right school fit for the coming year. Lesley Ellis School currently has limited openings for the 2026–2027 school year. We welcome inquiries from families interested in a warm, academically engaging, and inclusive preschool–grade 8 community. Our admission team would be happy to connect and help you learn more about the Lesley Ellis experience.
